Patrícia Beták

President

Translator and conference interpreter (FR, ES, HU), with an MA in French language and literature with teacher qualification. A freelancer since 2005, Patrícia started teaching at the BUTE Centre for Interpreter and Translator Training in 2010, where she was the head of the full-time programme between 2014 and 2016. In 2020, she obtained a PhD in French literature (Eötvös Loránd University, Université Savoie Mont Blanc). One of the creators and founders of SZOFT, her main responsibilities in the association are strategic planning, communication, nurturing talent, supporting fresh graduates, and promoting the social responsibility activities of interpreters and translators through the pro bono section of SZOFT’s social responsibility project group.

 

Appl Roland

Buddhist teacher (2018), Specialized translator in Technical, economic and social sciences in English and Hungarian languages (2021 Budapest University of Technology and Economics). Freelance translator since 2021. Main responsibilities in the association include communication, assisting in recruitment and other member-related topics as well as general administration. 

 

Baliga Georgina

English-German translator specialising in economics and law. She graduated in 2023 as a translator and interpreter at the Eszterházy Károly Catholic University. At the same time as continuing her studies, she worked as a project manager in a translation agency. Since October 2023, she had been working as a translator trainee at the European Commission's Directorate-General for TranslationAfter returning home, she started working as a project manager at Afford Translation Agency, has also been working as a freelance translator and was elected as a member of the board of SZOFT. In the association, she is mainly responsible for communication and for networking in the translation industry. She is also committed to the education of graduate students and their integration into the translation industry.

 

Jarabin Zita

English-Italian translator. During her college studies, she spent six months in Italy on a professional internship. Obtained a degree in tourism in 2006, specializing in event management and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibition). She completed her translator and interpreter training at Pázmány Péter Catholic University in 2020. She joined the Association as a junior member and currently supports the work of the Board as secretary. 

 

Kálmán Bálint Dénes

Moharos Éva

Translator and Conference Interpreter (EN, FR), with an MA in International Relations - European Studies. She has lived in Ireland (for 2,5 years), in France (for 2 years intermittently) and in Spain (for a half a year). After obtaining her degree in Translation Studies in 2014, she graduated as a Conference Interpreter in 2019, both at Budapest University of Technology and Economics. She's been a freelancer since 2020. Within the association she is mostly involved in the Pro Bono Working Group, the association’s social responsibility and organizing events.
